Hi all.  Recently a 4k of A Tale of Two Sisters came out that's from France and only has French subtitles.  Torrentgalaxy now has two copies where people have attempted to sync English subs from another source.  I tried it myself as well.  I looked and on both these copies it seems the contributor had the same problem I did.  None of us know how to sync them properly.  What on Earth are we doing wrong?  The 4k's framerate is 24fps.  The subtitles are 23.98 (I believe).  Even at times where they start out okay, they gradually go out of sync.  I will say that the English subs are taken from a source that doesn't have the 32 second logo this new 4k has.  Shouldn't it work fine if I just tell mkvtoolnix to delay the subs by 32000ms?  I can't for the life of me figure this out and both the other uploaders that tried can't seem to either.  It's driving me bonkers.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Just a little increase like from 23.98 to 24 fps will make a difference over time in the movie....considering the frame COUNT on movies (anything from 50,000+ frames to 250,000+ frames)...so over time they will apear in sync or slightly out but bearable....then suddenly out of sync etc...

To fix this you have to alter the frame rate yourself....or grab another sub file and make your own from scratch (just incase the ones you have have been altered previously as this will affect the settings you try)

If the framerate does not fix it then the % will...

To fix with this method you have to sync the first words spoken....then goto the last spoken word (in the movie)....and alter the Frame Rate % until that matches and the rest should all fit in nicely throughout

Hope this helps

That's one of the ones I tried.  I remember from previous releases (blurays) that it wasn't so far off so I'm not sure what's happening.

Don't know if this will make the slightest bit of difference, but i had a somewhat similar problem synching subs to a movie i dl'd from another site, i grabbed subs off a release from here and threw it through a synchronization tool called SubSynch. Worked after some mucking around and sussing it out

I can fix or sync any subs going, but i'm not gonna download a 60GB file to fix a 120kb sub file

If the problem was with all subs on any size print i could easily dl a smaller file and match them...but i suspect you really want the 4K print matched up so i can't help you there.
