Jay Leno's Garage - Aug 25 2025
Jeff Dunham Takes a Spin in Jay Leno's 1972 Scorpion Tank!
Get ready for a wild ride as Jay Leno brings out a serious piece of machinery: his 1972 Alvis Scorpion Tank! Jay is joined by his friend, comedian Jeff Dunham, who is a fellow collector of "weird vehicles". This light-duty tank holds the record for the world's fastest at 51 miles an hour.
Jay and Jeff explore the unique features of this vehicle, including its aluminum construction which keeps its weight to a surprisingly light 17,000 pounds. It's powered by a 4.2-liter Jaguar motor, the same engine found in the E-Type. Jay explains that the tank is street-legal thanks to its rubber blocks on the treads, which prevent it from tearing up the road.
Jeff climbs into the driver's seat and learns how to operate the Scorpion, which is controlled by two levers and a foot-operated transmission. Jay points out the 76mm main gun , smoke grenades, and the periscope for driving with the hatch closed.
The episode is not all fun and games, however. Jay and Jeff take a moment to reflect on the serious purpose of the tank and pay tribute to the brave men and women who served in these vehicles, acknowledging the dangerous conditions they faced
