*Note: The author, Master Sergeant (Ret.) Edward L. Posey joined the US Army in 1947. After serving with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 505th Airborne Infantry Regiment, he volunteered for airborne training with the Rangers in 1950 & served with distinction in the Korean War. The 15-year-old Posey finished basic training in 1947 & then reported for paratrooper duty with 3rd Battalion, 505th Airborne Infantry Regiment. Then in 1950, he volunteered to join 2nd Ranger Infantry Company & for 3-years, Posey fought in Korea, where he earned seven Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star with “V” device. Posey retired from the Army in 1969 & was inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame in 2002.
