Underworld — Born Slippy (.NUXX)
An infinite zoom through ten fractal constructs, off a worn tape. 4K60.
Eleven minutes and forty-six seconds falling straight down through things
that are built: an Apollonian circle packing, a Sierpinski carpet, a printed
circuit, a hexagonal core, two interfering gratings, bevelled chrome,
crystalline shards, a lattice of glyph blocks, and a field of tumbling
wireframe cubes. Twenty-seven of them go past. Four are on screen at once,
each one nested inside a detail of the last, and the seam where one becomes
the next is never visible because the portal radius is derived from the scale
ratio rather than chosen — the tunnel is seamless by construction.
Butterchurn, the WebGL port of MilkDrop, is screened in over the top. It was
captured in real time against this same track, because its reactivity comes
from a live analyser and cannot be faked offline.
Then the whole thing goes through 1996: tracking wobble, head-switching tear
at the bottom of frame, luma/chroma split with the colour differences shifted
and smeared sideways the way composite video smears them, tape grain,
dropouts, scanlines, blown highlights, and the artist/title/label caption in
the lower left. In that order, because that is the order a real signal path
has them in.

Every frame is math — no footage, no image models, no textures. Rendered with
OpenCL compute on an Intel Arc A380 and AV1-encoded on the same card, 42,150
frames at 3840x2160. The camera is the same descent engine that made the
Wonderland and Down With The Sickness videos, reused without modification;
only the worlds and the tape are new.

Infants deluxe reissue. All rights to the music remain with the artist and
label; the visuals are mine
